Renovations and extensions
Electrical work through a renovation or an extension, from rough-in to fit-off.
Overview
The work
Renovation work runs in two stages. Rough-in happens while the walls are open and covers the cabling, the mounting blocks and anything that has to sit behind plaster. Once the linings and the painting are done, fit-off puts the fittings on and the circuits get tested.
Kitchens and bathrooms usually need their own circuits, and an older board may need upgrading before it can carry them. Timing matters on a renovation, because the rough-in has to be finished before the plasterer starts.
